Prior to advisory, John learned his craft and gained his experiences from four primary positions. 1) John began is first job out of college at an S&L in Tysons Corner, Virginia where, upon the S&L being taken over by the RTC, John was quickly promoted to REO Asset Manager with responsibility for assets across the United States. 2) From 1992 to 2004, John was employed by Lerner Enterprises in Washington DC (one of the largest and most successful real estate companies in DC), where he led the capital markets and finance teams for a multi-billion dollar portfolio of development and stabilized office, retail, multi-family, hotel and land properties as well as other non-real estate ventures. 3) From 2004 to 2007, John relocated to Chicago and served as the Senior Vice President of First Industrial Realty Trust, responsible for raising and structuring all debt and equity for its $4 billion joint venture platform, effectively functioning as the "CFO of JVs". 4) From 2007 to 2009, John served as the head of WCS Investment Partners, a development entity of William C. Smith & Co in Washington DC formed to build a co-investment platform to develop (among other pursuits) its 2 million square feet of FAR in the emerging Capitol Riverfront District. John holds a BS from Virginia Tech in Finance and an MBA from The George Washington University.
